OVERVIEW:
As part of the Northampton Saints operations team, the Safety Officer is responsible for the overall management, leadership and delivery of safety operations for matchdays and other major events. This includes close liaison with internal and external stakeholders with regards to the development, management and co-ordination of safety procedures and activities. This is a part-time role averaging a minimum of 12 hours per week; exact hours may vary from week to week depending on the programme of matches and events.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
To be in overall control of matchday safety management To be in overall control of safety at events falling under the Club’s Safety Certificate Leading and motivating the matchday safety team to ensure that the stadium is operated to deliver a safe experience for visitors and patrons whilst maintaining a welcoming environment at all times Supporting the Head of Operations to ensure that the Club’s facilities comply with Safety at Sports Grounds legislation Assist in achievement of the General Safety Certificate and act as principal adviser on all spectator safety issues Liaise with the SAG (Safety Advisory Group) regarding the General Safety Certificate, major event planning and any other relevant matters Assist on the overall training and deployment of matchday staff to deliver a safe and secure customer focused environment for rugby and dedicated events held at cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens. To assist in the management of communications with key safety stakeholders including police, emergency services and local authorities in respect of matches / events. To keep abreast of new developments within safety management and share this with the Head of Operations and Safety Team To keep abreast of developments in Counter Terrorism advice and legislation and work with the Head of Operations and Compliance Manager to implement required changes Complete appropriate continuous professional development Review and update match and event day related policies and contingency plans Carry out pre-event inspections and procedures in conjunction with the Operations team Attend matchday operations meetings and prepare matchday briefing documents THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL:
Be fully conversant with the requirements of the Green Guide for Safety at Sports Grounds Hold NVQ Level 4 in Spectator Safety with minimum of two years experience in a relevant environment and a demonstrable knowledge of safety issues in sporting venues Have experience working with large numbers of spectators / personnel Have the ability to implement and manage safety procedures at all levels Be an experienced manager of people Have the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines Have the ability and willingness to work outside normal business hours, including evenings and weekends Have the ability to exceed supporter / customer expectation whilst operating within a budget Be a good communicator – written and oral skills, good judgement, confident, persuasive, approachable, dependable, uses initiative, professional Have excellent planning, organisational and time management skills Have customer facing experience and possess a natural aptitude for assisting people Have a friendly, positive and courteous ‘can do’ attitude Be a team player with the ability to build and nurture positive working relationships across a broad range of stakeholders Be fully IT literate, including proficiency in Microsoft Office APPLICATION:
