Job description

Sales Operations Integrations Manager, Sales Operations

The opportunity

A rare opportunity to join Bloomsbury Publishing’s Sales Operations team and contribute to key developments at the heart of the company’s strategy at an exciting time of unprecedented growth and success.

This role has been created with the primary focus on delivering two major projects: Bloomsbury’s distribution migration in the UK from MDL to Hachette and the integration of a recently acquired US-based Academic list.

The distribution migration entails the timely onboarding of data, transfer of stock, development of new business-as-usual procedures and the transition of existing working practices to new ones.

The integration involves the on-boarding of the newly acquired list of titles into established Bloomsbury structures and working ways across our four main publishing headquarters globally.

Core activities will include project organisation, data analysis and reporting, and close collaboration with other departments in Bloomsbury (Project Management Office, Finance, Production, Sales and Editorial), as well as external partners (distributors and other third-party suppliers). As such the role requires hand-on experience in Sales Operations and Inventory Management as well as a thorough understanding of other departments and the publishing industry as a whole.

This role sits with the Sales Operations and reports into the Head of Change and Integration.

The role:

  • Overseeing the transition of data and stock from divesting company’s distributor to Bloomsbury’s systems.
  • Close cross-departmental collaboration to ensure all of the business areas’ requirements are understood, documented and met.
  • Regular communication with distributors and project managers to ensure projects are progressing according to agreed plan and timeline.
  • Comprehensive yet concise reporting on progress to key stakeholders.
  • Establishment of new operational workflows at the new distributor.
  • Ensure successful transition of ways of working for staff affected.
  • Long-term stock management (e.g. determining overstocks by means of sell-through analysis).

Knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Ability to manage a busy workload, with multiple priorities.
  • Creative approach to problem solving.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to translate complex concepts and data into clearly constructed and digestible reporting.
  • A solid understanding of all aspects of the publishing workflow across departments to ensure awareness of impacts on all sides of the business when making decisions.
  • Commercial prowess to be accessed in decision making; always keeping a bigger picture of the company’s interests in mind.
  • Experience managing inventory across different territories.
  • Previous experience in reprint analysis, working with print on demand titles, decision making and scheduling.
  • Experience analysing large data sets, e.g. sales analysis and data fidelity audits.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Excel; comfortable using VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP formulae and pivot tables.
  • A working knowledge of Biblio, Vista, SAP or similar publishing systems.
