We are a new and dynamic sanctions team which is part of our wider Group Financial Crime in Second Line of Defence. We are looking for individuals who are able to think differently about problems, work quickly and act as part of a team. Our objective at LSEG is full compliance with sanctions regimes around the world. This role is pivotal in terms of acting as a key partner for business areas across the group and ensuring the business that we undertake is compliant.

The Sanctions Advisory Assistant Manager provides compliance advisory, assurance and manages services to LSEGs regulated businesses / legal entities.
Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities:
  • Provides sanctions compliance advisory support to LSEG regulated or non-regulated business/legal entity in order to ensure the organisation aligns with all applicable regulatory requirements or relevant best practices. Acts as a trusted sanctions advisor to the LSEG business.
  • Provide relevant analysis on, the impact of the latest sanctions regulatory developments on the regulated and non-regulated business/legal entity and provides advice on new regulations as well as keeping policies and procedures up to date.
  • Carries out sanctions analysis activities in accordance with the Compliance monitoring, business strategy, and assurance plan, including global regulatory analysis, findings and production of data driven reports.
  • Handles issues from the 1st Line of Defence and assesses cases to determine the correct compliance action that needs to be undertaken.
  • Assesses General Licences to determine applicability to the LSEG business as required and assists in the drafting of licence applications where required.
  • Understand Embargos against targeted countries and be able to ensure the business acts in compliance with the policies and process implemented to mitigate risk when dealing with embargoed locations.
  • Maintains the rules of a specific LSEG business/legal entity and handles client queries on them, acting as a communication channel between the regulated business/legal entity and its regulator(s).
  • Maintains general understanding of Product Life Cycle and the impact of sanctions to LSEG’s products and collaborates with regulated and non-regulated businesses to track trends related to product lines with a clear or potential regulatory impact.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Degree or equivalent and / or relevant professional qualification-Previous related experience-
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements, business requirements, asset classes and market function and demonstrate the ability to interpret new sanctions laws and regulations
  • Ability to work through complex due diligence structures to determine ownership structures
  • Knowledge of financial services/financial data products advantageous
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks/cases
  • Knowledge of key global sanctions regimes and the UK regulatory framework
This is a Sanctions Advisory role and not a sanctions screening/KYC role (may not suit those with Financial Crime experience only in those areas)
