Job description

We are Calisen. We own and manage essential energy infrastructure assets that offer smarter energy for all.

Through smart metering, installation, data services, EV charging infrastructure, and the electrification of heat, we’re creating a more sustainable future, bringing smarter energy to all in conjunction with our core business values. Calisen is in an exciting and strong position where we are seeing growth and development in all areas of the business. We are seeking a Scheduling Assistant who will be accountable for providing our field-based meter installation engineers with a cost-effective drivable route using internal systems, as well as providing any additional support to the engineers.

This is a permanent, full-time role opportunity working 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday, and occasional Saturdays as needed. The role offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing you to work from home while spending a minimum of 2 days per week at the Wigan office. The annual salary for this position is £23,400.

What you’ll do in the role

Within this role, you will play a crucial part in efficiently managing the scheduling of work using our in-house systems. Your responsibilities will include coordinating various skilled engineers to ensure optimal utilization, scheduling appointments through the Appointment Booking System (ABS), and promptly addressing emergencies and priority jobs throughout the day. Your use of the Jeopardy Management System (JMS) will be essential in minimising failed appointments by reallocating tasks among engineers as needed.

Additionally, you will be responsible for monitoring both current and future appointments, liaising with meter engineers, handling queries from various stakeholders, and communicating with customers regarding engineer arrivals and appointment adjustments. Your role will also involve managing engineers' on-the-day challenges such as sickness, training, meetings, and annual leave, all while adhering to strict time-sensitive deadlines. Finally, your proactive approach in monitoring rotas for holidays and sickness, as well as keeping your area scheduled well in advance, will contribute to the overall efficiency of the scheduling process.

What we’re looking for

  • A good standard of general education (minimum GCSE level or equivalent).
  • Computer literate with ability to operate Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, organisation, and administration skills, with the ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative, and work towards strict deadlines.
  • Previous experience of scheduling field-based engineers with work is highly desirable.

If there are any adjustments, or you’d like to speak to somebody about any aspect of your recruitment process, please contact our Recruitment Team.

Please note that all successful applicants will undergo relevant employment reference, background, financial and criminal record checks, appropriate for the role offered.
