A client of ours is seeking a motivated, proactive, and enthusiastic individual to join their highly successful Finance Team as a School Finance Bursar. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the organization and efficient execution of day-to-day financial operations within the Finance Office. They will demonstrate excellent organizational, administrative, communication, and IT skills, coupled with a strong willingness to learn and contribute to the team.
Responsibilities:
- Support accurate financial monitoring
- Support monthly management accounts and consolidated financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with Trust financial regulations and the Academy Trust Handbook.
- Oversee all payroll activities.
Finance:
- Supervise the School's computerized finance accounting, order placement, and management of Financial Management Systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain distinct reserves in the financial systems and accurately allocate income and expenditure.
- Ensure all funding, both restricted and unrestricted, is received and accounted for correctly.
- Manage weekly processing, including review and authorization of payment batches.
- Supervise the processing of invoices in line with school financial procedures.
- and security, fundraising, and school trips.
- Maintain and oversee.bank accounts, including monthly reconciliations and reporting banking errors.
- Manage the Cashless System and Payment website.
- Ensure accurate VAT accounting and payment, submitting VAT reclaim returns monthly.
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, including posting of accruals, prepayments, and depreciation.
- Maintain financial records in compliance with policies and procedures.
Payroll and Pensions:
- Complete and manage the School's Payroll, ensuring timely submission of all required forms and annual returns.
- Identifying areas for improvement and financial risks, and providing explanations of variances and suggested actions to SLT.
- Undertake specific reporting and analysis of financial performance as requested by SLT and Governors.
- Maintain and update the School's Asset Register.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working as a School Finance Manager in the education industry.
- Familiarity with schools' FMS systems.
- Ability to provide five-year work references.
- Enhanced DBS clearance.
