The school catering team is on the journey to becoming a farm to fork experience for the children and families at Lakenham. Are you a midday supervisory assistant who can support when requiring a Catering Assistant who would like to come on this journey with us? We are looking to recruit a Catering Assistant who can help within the kitchen and then in the hall with children during service. Hours of work 11.15-1.15, Monday-Friday.
This is the perfect job for someone potentially with their own children who needs holidays with them. Or someone who does other catering work over the summer.
TASKS
- To take samples of all high risk foods (e.g. dairy) to enable checks to be made in the event of health problems and to adhere to legal requirements.
- To record temperatures of goods served every lunchtime to ensure it is at a safe temperature to eat and that legal requirements regarding records are maintained.
- To wash and sterilise cutlery and plates to ensure they are clean and hygienic for the next days use.
- To provide weekly disinfecting / cleaning of fridge / freezer seals and to rotate food whilst doing so to ensure that white ware is clean and safe and that all food is rotated to ensure freshness.
- To prepare fruit and vegetables and decorate cakes and deserts to contribute towards the provision of a healthy and nutritious lunch.
- Set up serving hatch so that food is presented in an appealing fashion and serve food quickly and efficiently so that students have time to enjoy their lunch.
- To support children with cutting up food if necessary, supporting them to be their best within the dinner hall.
- To clean trolleys, work areas, dining hall and floors on a daily basis to ensure that kitchen and hall is clean.
- To work to strict deadlines so that the hall is ready for lunch, including putting the tables out for the children.
Qualifications
No formal qualifications although post holder would be expected to achieve a Certificate in Hygiene and to renew this as required
