Facilities and Site Manager Salary: £14-£18PH
Hours: 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday
Contract type: Temp - Full Time 
Location: North Birmingham
Main Purpose The main purpose of the role is to support the CEO, Finance Manager and the Senior Management Team (SMT) in ensuring compliance with the independent school standards for two schools. The standards relate to health and safety, fire safety, risk assessments and oversight and management of the school premises to include general maintenance, health and safety around premises, toilets, water and outdoor space. Also, in addition, of the role is to manage the kitchens, cleaners and organising and managing contractors.
Duties and Responsibilities Site Management

1. Maintenance and repair of premises – to complete a checklist to ensure compliance with the independent school standards, health and safety and fire safety, (to include PAC testing) on a termly basis.
2. Have the ability to undertake a wide range of maintenance tasks and have excellent and practical DIY skills and abilities.
3. Have the ability and experience of caretaking and cleaning work to enable the management of cleaners and caretakers in two schools, including stock management and oversight of cleaning materials/ordering.
4. To have responsibility and to report to the CEO and SMT on compliance of health and safety and fire risk assessments.
5. To have the ability and responsibility for obtaining quotations from 3 independent contractors to complete necessary works and to make recommendations of the contractor.
6. Ensure the appropriate materials and equipment for the premises are available, to include ordering materials for projects or repair.
7. Maintain the school buildings and outside space to a high standard.
8. Undertake Fire Marshal training and carry out fire marshal duties to support existing fire marshals in schools.
9. To ensure premises checks to include water safety, kitchen hygiene standards, and checks recommended by the health and safety consultant.
10. To manage cleaning and caretaking staff including carrying out two performance management reviews annually.
11. To manage and support kitchen staff as and when necessary.

Essential Skills Required:

• Excellent attention to detail
• Good level of expertise in use of Microsoft applications to include Word, Excel.
• Excellent DIY and practical skills
• Termly in house audits of checklists/premises compliance
• Compliance and health and safety management experience and/or qualifications
• Experience in managing cleaning, caretaking and kitchen staff
• Be confident in dealing with contractors and visitors, obtaining detailed like for like quotations
• Be able to work independently and as part of a team
• Must be flexible and adaptable and have a “can do”, lead by example persona
• Be able to manage a physically demanding schedule and face the challenges which arise in a special needs school environment Desirable Skills Required
• Previous experience in a similar environment
• Ability to work on own initiative and make decision
