We are currently looking to appoint a Science Academic Mentor to complete a year-long placement at one of our partner Secondary Schools in Barnet.
Starting in mid-January, our Science Academic Mentor roles will perfectly suit aspiring teachers and will see the successful applicant joining a school that can offer Teacher Training routes from September 2024.
Science Academic Mentor - The Role
- Initial one-year placements from January 2024 – July 2024.
- £90-£100 per day | £450-£500 per week / Paid PAYE every week.
- Mentoring/Tutoring 11–18-year-old students 1:1 and in small intervention groups.
- Maximising the learning potential of students by increasing attainment, motivation and boosting self-esteem.
- Implementing strategies to close gaps in knowledge that have emerged during the pandemic.
Science Academic Mentor – Job Specification
- First-Class or 2:1 classification in a STEM-related degree subject (Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths).
- Excellent A-Levels in related subjects.
- Ambitions of qualifying as a Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths Teacher in the future.
- The energy and enthusiasm to captivate and maintain the focus of your students.
- The patience to support and encourage students who are struggling to understand key concepts.
- The dedication and willingness to get fully immersed in school life (lunchtime clubs, enrichment activities, after-school clubs, school trips).
