About the Role:

As a Science Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of the Science curriculum. Working closely with the science department, you will provide technical assistance and guidance to both students and teaching staff. Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and setting up equipment, chemicals, and materials for practical science lessons, ensuring they are in good working order and conform to health and safety regulations.
• Assisting students during practical experiments, providing guidance and ensuring safe and effective use of equipment and resources.
• Maintaining and organising laboratory equipment, chemicals, and other resources, keeping an accurate inventory and ordering supplies as required.
• Assisting teachers with the preparation of teaching materials and resources for lessons.
• Supporting the safe disposal of hazardous waste materials.
• Assisting with the maintenance and repair of laboratory equipment and apparatus.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• Previous experience working as a Science Technician or in a similar scientific role.
• Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures and health and safety practices in a school science environment.
• Proficiency in handling and maintaining a wide range of scientific equipment and materials.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage resources effectively.
• Good communication skills to liaise with teaching staff, students, and external suppliers.
• A genuine passion for science and supporting students in their scientific endeavours.
