Polytec are looking for a Scientist specialising in Battery Materials for our Huntingdon based client. You will play a key role in developing next generation energy storage materials, maximising their performance and gaining an understanding of the structure. This is a temporary role offered on a two-year fixed term contract in the first instance.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to brainstorming, studies, and project meeting discussions
- Formulation of electrode and electrolyte material inks and pastes, including solvent screening and microscopy studies of the morphology of dried material deposits
- Fabrication of coin cell devices and testing of novel Battery Materials
- Timely and accurate compilation of results
- PhD in chemistry, material science or physics a degree coupled with equivalent work experience will also be acceptable
- A good knowledge and practical experience in electrochemical techniques or battery technologies
- IT literate, familiarity with Microsoft Office
- Relevant work experience in a high-tech R&D or manufacturing environment
- Inorganic chemistry, polymer physics, and relevant analytical techniques
- A good understanding of structure – property relationships in functional materials
- Experience with battery technologies or electrochemical techniques
- A good understanding plus practical experience in synthetic organic chemistry
