Rate: £250p/d Umbrella Inside IR35 (negotiable depending on experience)

Duration: 3 months rolling contract (this will be an ongoing role, that is extended every three months)

Our West Midlands based client, is seeking a dedicated Scrutiny and Committee Officer to join their team for an ongoing interim contract.

You will play a vital role in facilitating transparent and effective decision-making processes, ensuring the team deliver better outcomes through decision making and scrutiny.

Role Purpose:

• To support the Council’s governance arrangements by providing flexible support across Scrutiny and Committee Services to facilitate effective decision making and Scrutiny in compliance with the Constitution, legislation and council policy and procedures
• Provide support for the West Midlands Police and Crime Panel to discharge the statutory duty to scrutinse and provide constructive challenge to the West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner
• To organise and attend meetings within the Council’s decision-making system and scrutiny arrangements and to co-ordinate action/s arising
• To provide support and advice to Cabinet Members, Committee Chairs and members, and senior officers
• To help maintain accurate databases/records including the Council’s Committee Information Management System and keeping up to date relevant webpages

Some responsibilities include:

• To provide support and advice to Cabinet Members, Scrutiny Committees, Regulatory Committees, their Chairs and senior officers to prepare work programmes, plan and organise formal and informal meetings, produce minutes and progress and secure meeting outcomes
• Working with the Overview and Scrutiny Manager to provide advice and organisational support to the Police and Crime Panel to enable the Panel to effectively scrutinise the work of the West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner in line with procedures and relevant legislation (local government committee administration and Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act)
• To undertake research and project work as required and produce reports and recommendations on findings including drafting reports and briefings for the West Midlands Police and Crime Panel
