SalaryOur leading NVOCC client, who provides global import/export services, is currently looking for an experienced Seafreight FCL Operator to cover Maternity leave, alongside their team in Basildon. This vacancy will be for 9 months in post and an additional month beforehand for handover, commencing in April.
As Seafreight FCL Operator, on a day-to-day basis you'll be coordinating the complete operational cycle of business from booking with carriers to invoice reconciliation, revenue and costs. You'll be liaising with customers, customs authorities and third party contacts. Ensuring customs clearance documents are in order, collecting relevant documentation ready for release/delivery of cargo, invoicing and securing payments. Seafreight FCL Operators should be self-motivated, computer literate, and have excellent attention to detail skills, as well as being good with numbers and a confident communicator.
Specific Seafreight FCL Operator duties include:
- Complete all customs declaration forms correctly.
- Accurately complete all invoicing for imports and clients, following up late customer payments in conjunction with credit control and maintaining accurate accounting records for the FCL department.
- Ensure all operational activities and invoicing are completed on time.
- Reporting any errors or inconsistencies promptly.
- Maintain regular communication with clients, reporting new sales leads and handover of shipments to manager.
- Create new and maintain current SOPs for the department.
- Communicate quotations to the line manager/sales team and ensure all quotations are recorded on the system in one format.
- Implement and improve new efficiencies in customer workflow in conjunction with line manager.
- Ensure all reports are generated by given deadlines and handed to line manager.
Maintain excellent customer and inter-departmental relationships at all times giving regular feedback to line manager.
We're keen to speak to people who have experience in a customer facing operations role, especially those with knowledge of FCL import and export operations or experience working as a Customs Operator / Customs Clerk / Customs Coordinator, or have good working knowledge of Destin8, CNS and MultiFreight.
