Seasonal Retail Sales Assistant

Purpose of the role

Working in Retail at London Zoo is a truly unique experience and a job like no other! Our Sales Assistants deliver excellent customer service to all to enhance our visitors experience. Working in a variety of shops including Tiny Giants, Penguin Beach, Reptile Kiosk, our seasonal marshmallow fire pit and our Exit shop you will be required to work on a till, serve customers, and provide excellent product knowledge. After trading hours, our team is required to process the delivery, re-stock the shops, and reset the standard for the next day. As we now approach summer, we are getting ready to support Zoo nights with our marshmallow toasting fire pit and Penguin Pool activities.

• Minimum of 12 hours per week with maximum of 37.5 hours hours a weekavailable during peak times where ZSL requires. Supporting you to find the hours that fit you and the organisation.
• Start date from 13th May 2024
• 12 roles available
• 5 month seasonal contract
• Expected interview date of the 17th April 2024 and second interview 29th April 2024
• Must be available to work Zoo nights – every Friday night in June and July between 6pm and 10pm
• Shifts are either 6 or 7.5 hours
• Must be able to work weekends, Bank Holidays and to 9pm.

Key responsibilities:

• Play an active part in ensuring that the departments KPI targets are met.
• Develops and maintains good up to date knowledge of all retail product, promotions, and zoo activities.
• Maintaining a high level of customer service, dealing efficiently and courteously with any questions, or requested information.
• Maintain good stock levels in all outlets through regular stock replenishment.

About You

• Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, including evening/weekend and bank holiday shifts.
• A consistently positive and energetic approach is required.
• Strong communication skills are essential.
• An understanding of appropriate cash-handling procedures.
• An interest in animal conservation is desirable.
• Be comfortable and able to work outside for long periods in all weathers
• when requested, to assist, support and operate remote retail sites (in some instances these maybe outside of London Zoo grounds e.g.pop up shops).
