This role is based at Armstrong Works, Scotswood Road, the factory covers 33,000m² of space with multiple businesses occupying the site.
About the Role:
As a vital member of our security team, the Security Guards at Armstrong Works play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and secure environment on-site. The primary responsibilities include overseeing site security, promptly addressing issues, managing access control, conducting patrols, monitoring CCTV, and responding to incidents. This role requires a proactive and solution-oriented approach to ensure the well-being of all personnel and assets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and maintain the overall security of the Armstrong Works site
- Conduct regular high profile patrols to provide a visible deterrent and reassurance
- Enforce gatehouse procedures and control access for staff, visitors, and contractors
- Raise and communicate any security issues or problems to the team leader promptly
- Collaborate with team members to solve day-to-day operational issues
- Answer telephone calls, signpost inquiries appropriately, and maintain effective communication
- Take responsibility for monitoring CCTV systems
- Coordinate an appropriate response to potential security incidents as required
- Manage or assist in the resolution of security incidents in a calm and professional manner
- Adhere to Security Assignment instructions and carry out duties accordingly
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Familiarity with gatehouse procedures
- Knowledge of security systems, equipment, policies, and procedures
- Familiarity with administration systems (Word, Excel)
- SIA Approved (desirable, training provided if required)
- First Aid trained (desirable, training provided if required)
- SC clearance (to be sought as part of employment requirements)
- CCTV license (desirable, training provided if required)
- Full UK driving license (desirable)
- Conflict Management Training (training provided)

Hours:
- 4 days, 4 off, 4 nights, 4 off rotation
- 12 hour shifts
- Approx 42 hours per week
As a defence contractor, we have a number of security obligations placed upon the company, which means that all our staff must be able to successfully achieve the relevant security clearances.
