Security Officer

Security Officer| Full time | 35 hours per week
Salary: £24, 973 (£12.92 per hour) plus additional £4,121 shift allowance.
Hours: 14 twelve hour shifts, including weekends (over a 28 day shift cycle - an example rota can be found in the Recruitment Pack)
Location: National Museums Scotland Chambers Street Edinburgh

This post also comes with a generous shift allowance working out as an additional £4,121 per annum.

About the Security Officer role:

Working as part of a professional security team, you will ensure and maintain the security, safety and integrity of all National Museums Scotland buildings and provide a safe and secure environment for all staff, visitors and collections.

As a Security Officer with National Museums Scotland you will:

• Patrol and secure the Site(s) to ensure any intrusion, flood or fires are prevented and / or detected as soon as possible
• Monitor CCTV systems as appropriate, assisting in preparing footage for any CCTV investigations
• Support our Visitor Experience staff in dealing with emergency and conflict situations
• Adhere to and apply all Security Control Room and out of hours procedures including the verification and issuing of identification passes to all visitors and contractors.

Skills and experience we're looking for in our Security Officer:

• Knowledge of receptions duties / access control for staff, contractors and visitors
• Knowledge of security, fire, intruder and CCTV systems and procedures
• Ability to remain calm and positive when dealing with a wide range of enquiries and situations
• A good telephone and radio procedures manner to deal with enquiries and requests for assistance
