Hours of work: 07:00 - 19:00 & 19:00 - 07:00 (Monday - Sunday. Day and Nightshifts)
Job Purpose:
EMCOR are recruiting for a full-time Security Officer to work an average of 56 hours per week. To provide high visibility and on occasions discrete customer facing static security services at the client’s property and surrounding areas in Newcastle. Ensure that the client’s property, people and information are protected in line with the site assignment instructions.
Principle Accountabilities:
- Responsible for the security of people, assets and information by providing high visibility security guarding and mobile foot patrols of the property/building and grounds
- Responsible for the monitoring of the perimeter of the property/building and surrounding grounds
- Use the site CCTV system to deter criminal activity within property and parking areas
- Understanding of security equipment such as handheld radios and patrol systems
- Assist in maintain accurate records and logs of incidents and site visit logs.
- Liaising with Police and other emergency services in the event of security incidents or to promote open dialogue and liaison.
- Be able to communicate at all levels and be able to respond to telephone calls and radio users in a professional and polite manner.
- Ensure open lines of communication with the shift supervisor and teammates, that all necessary information is communicated during shift change.
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with all the client’s departments.
- Help maintain accurate site contract administration files.
- Be able to provide security services by following the site assignment instruction and customer expectations.
- Ensure that all EMCOR policies, procedures and standards are adhered to.
- On occasions oversee the receipt of deliveries out of hours.
- Be the first point of contact for all visitor during and outside of normal business hours.
- Assist as required during major incidents.
- Monitor the site fire alarm panel, intruder alarm panel, lone worker system and gas alarm located within the control room
- Carryout any other duties as directed by the site security supervisor
Person Specification
- Security Industry Qualifications - Front line SIA Licence
- First aid qualification is desirable
- Must be able to achieve and maintain BS7858 vetting standard
- A good Level of communication skills
- A positive and flexible attitude
- CCTV Monitoring experience would be an advantage
- Experience of providing corporate security services
- Well-presented and turned out
- Must be able to make judgment calls that are situational and time critical
- Be able to work as part of a team but on occasions work on your own initiative
- The ability to prioritise tasks and work under occasional pressure
- Have IT skills and an understanding of Outlook and Windows operating systems
- All relevant job training will be provided
