Job overview
Mill View Hospital is a mental health hospital in Hove, East Sussex and we are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, flexible and reliable Security Reception Coordinator to lead a small team of Reception Security Assistants. The successful candidate will be front of house, patient facing and the role is largely an administrative role. We are looking for applications from anyone who has had experience in a similar role and can demonstrate Leadership qualities required for this role.
This is a fixed term role, 37.5 hours per week role, with working hours covering the core reception opening times. The reception area will be staffed 12 hours a day, 365 days a year, so applicants must be aware that they could work hours to cover this shift pattern that will include weekends and bank holidays.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work in our busy reception area dealing with staff, patients and visitors. You will lead and supervise a small Reception Security team and this role will include rota planning, absence monitoring and annual leave. You will also assist with the development, implementation and delivery of relevant training and policies within the scope of the role.
You will manage the day to day activities of the Reception area and maintain high standards of security whilst providing a welcoming and professional service to patients and visitors. You will be issuing and maintaining security equipment and using a variety of systems that are part of the security processes at the hospital. You will be responsible for controlling access to the building, and expected to work closely with a variety of other staff.
You will need to be friendly, alert, self-motivated and have the ability to work on your own and as part of a small team. You must also be able to demonstrate a compassionate approach and will require patience and high standards of communication in dealing with people who may be anxious.
You will be required to demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills. A working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel and Outlook is essential. Knowledge of our Trust system Carenotes would be an advantage.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise a small Reception Security team including rota planning, absence monitoring and annual leave
  • Oversee and take responsibility for the day to day management of the reception area
  • Maintain the performance reporting systems for all elements of the security systems within the reception area
  • To provide effective line management to all Reception Security Assistants
  • To be responsible for the security systems within the reception area, i.e. keys, ID badges, alarms, radios (where used), and IT systems and maintaining a database to support this if required.

  • Diploma or equivalent relevant qualification
  • Management/Supervision Qualification

Knowledge/Experience
Essential criteria
  • Minimum 3 years experience in administration to include 1 years experience of managing/supervising staff
  • Strong working knowledge of administrative systems and computer software programmes
  • Experience and evidence of analysing and interpreting and presenting information
  • Experience of Security Roles and Risk Management
  • Previous experience in a similar role
