Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to support the Security Manager in providing risk commensurate security guidance, direction and advice to all Cadent Business Functions, its partners and contractors on personal, personnel and physical security matters to address corporate and local security risks.The post holder will deliver security programmes and solutions to safeguard the company’s people and assets, whilst ensuring compliance with regulatory and corporate standards across the company’s portfolio, with a particular focus on high profile projects and incidents.Responsible for the security relationships with the wider energy sector, government departments agencies and the police to position Cadent as a ‘centre of excellence’ and ‘trusted friend’ through one to one relationships and participation in cross-sector fora.
Key Responsibilities
Functional accountabilities
- Integral member of the Cadent Digital, Risk and Security Team – reporting through the Security Manager to the Director of Digital Risk and Security, deputising for the Manager when required
- When appropriate using analytical techniques to make recommendations to key decision makers both internally and externally
- Providing advice and guidance directly to individuals and business functions, through web-based applications, policy and procedure development, security reports and scenario-based exercises – demonstrating the appropriate level of attention to detail
- Be willing to undertake personal development opportunities that will support continued professional development as well as a greater understanding of the operation of Cadent’s business and operations together with entities that may be dependant or interdependent upon Cadent.
- Provide support to specific national Security processes to ensure consistent application across Cadent
- Support incident investigations as required to establish root causes, providing expert advice and guidance to the investigation team.
- Keep the company safe and secure by co-operating with others to ensure a co-ordinated approach to promote a clear understanding of each party’s duties, roles and responsibilities for Digital Risk and Security.
Special accountabilities
- Lead on companywide initiatives to ensure the safety and security of our people, property and processes
- Being a subject matter expert for the Company across a broad range of protective security aspects including securing through environmental design, human interventions, physical and technical measures, personal safeguarding and personnel security
- Being a key player in supporting the Property business function and our contacted security provider as required
- Supporting Project Managers in Cadent’s Capital Delivery function in the delivery of major infrastructure projects e.g. HS2 and National Infrastructure protection
- Required to lead on designing, developing, implementing, and managing security programs and communications.

Qualifications
- Membership of an accredited institution – i.e. The Security Institute (or willing to work towards)
Practical Experience
- Key security principles and knowledge through a proven track record
