Are you a patient, resilient and empathetic Primary Teacher?
Do you already have experience teaching children with SEMH needs?
Are you adaptable enough to work with secondary age groups?
Are you looking for a new challenge where you can learn new skills?
This is a Primary Teacher role starting ASAP on a full time and long term basis with the potential to turn in to a permanent contract for the right person.
To join us and be successful in this SEMH Primary Teacher role in Leicestershire you will need to:
- Have an enhanced DBS certificate (or be happy to apply for a new one).
- Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable)
- Minimum of two professional references.
- Provide a CV with a full history from your education until present.
- Have the legal right to work in the UK.
- Experience teaching pupils with SEMH needs.
- Ability to engage and motivate hard to reach children.
The right SEMH Primary Teacher will have experience teaching across a range of subjects, although strong skills in either English or Science would be beneficial. You will have the ability to engage small groups of hard to reach pupils that are working at lower than expected levels for their age. You will need the ability to engage, motivate and differentiate to meet individual levels and needs while managing challenging behaviour in conjunction with the class TA.
Candidates will be considered with QTS or QTLS or other relevant teaching qualifications that indicate proven teaching knowledge and experience. Ideally you will have experience as a Primary Teacher, PRU Teacher, SEMH Teacher, SEN Teacher, Secondary Teacher, English Teacher, Science Teacher or Intervention Teacher in the past.
The setting is a SEMH school that caters for young people across KS3 & 4 but working at KS2 level. All pupils have been excluded from mainstream education and have an EHCP for SEMH and associated needs. Therefore a large part of this SEMH Primary Teacher role will be to build strong relationships with pupils based on honesty, consistency and mutual respect setting appropriate boundaries. You will need to act as a positive role model and persevere through challenging days to show pupil's that you are there to help them progress and improve their life chances and not give up on them.
This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference to a cohort of young people who need extra support the most and to improve their life chances while progressing them towards being responsible citizens that contribute to society and feel like they have a purpose and direction to life after school.
