If so, Leader Education is recruiting on behalf of a SEMH school who cater for pupils aged between 11 to 19 years old. Please note that it is essential that candidates have a Moving and Handling, Team Teach and First Aid qualification and this can be provided freeof charge. The role will begin on a supply basis, but will become permanent after a successful trial period.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a committed SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our SEMH school, where you will have the opportunity to work with students who Social, Emotional, Mental Health difficulties and many of whom are on the autism spectrum. As a school Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in facilitating the growth and development of our students, fostering a nurturing and inclusive educational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing individualised and group instruction tailored to the specific needs of students with challenging behaviour and autism.
- Collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement personalised education plans.
- Employing a variety of teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles.
- Creating a safe, supportive, and stimulating learning atmosphere.
- Monitoring student progress and adjusting teaching methods as necessary.
- Offering emotional support and guidance to help students thrive.
Qualifications and Experience:
To be considered for this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:
- It is essential that you have a moving and handling, team teach and first aid qualification or be willing to attend our free course to obtain one.
- Experience working with children, young adults or adults who a diagnoses of autism, challenging behaviour or other complex needs.
- Asthma training, seizure training and PEG feeding training is desirable.
- A comprehensive understanding of the unique challenges and needs of students with challenging behaviour.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to adapt instruction to meet individual student requirements.
