AKTON recruitment is working closely with the local authorities and we are looking for an experienced SEN Casework officer in the Shropshire area. 3 - 6 months contract tole.
Overview of your role
The post holder is required to support the Special Educational Needs Team manager,
Senior SEN case officers and SEN case Officers in the efficient and effective delivery of
the statutory functions of the Local Authority with regards to children and Young People
with an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and the Annual Review process.
What will you be doing?
- Amend Education, Health and Care Plans ensuring they are rated as Good or Outstanding in line with Shropshire LA's Quality Assurance Standards, meet legal requirements and are clear, comprehensive and child/young personcentred.
- Support the SEN Team to meet Key Performance Indicators in completing the Annual Review process within statutory timescales.
- Support schools/settings in meeting their statutory duties in relation to completing the Annual Review process.
- Quality assure Annual Review reports on receipt to ensure that advice is included from involved professionals and a comprehensive review of all sections of the EHC Plan has been carried out and recorded, including a
- review of any Personal Budget arrangements.
- Ensure that administrative duties related to Annual Reviews are completed within the appropriate timescales.
- Support casework related to Annual Reviews in conjunction with SEN Case Officers.
- Support the Phase Transfer process including ensuring that Annual Review meetings take place in the Autumn term
Essential:
* A sound knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice (2014)
* To have a methodical approach to work with an ability to manage workloads and
produce high quality work
* An understanding of the LA requirements for amending Education Health and Care
Plans and relevant legislation.
* An understanding of the Phase Transfer process - including national statutory
deadlines, and LA requirements for pupils with EHCP's
* Experience of working collaboratively with other services e.g. Health, Social Care,
Voluntary sector and service users to ensure pupils and students are supported
effectively.
