We are looking for a dedicated SEN Case Officer to manage a caseload of children with Education Health and Care plans, ensuring all statutory requirements are met. The role involves casework for new statutory assessments, writing and amending Education Health and Care Plans, and working closely with various stakeholders to support children’s educational needs.
This is a hybrid position with 3 days working in the office and 2 work from home.
Day to Day of the role:- Supervise and action the day-to-day work relating to a large pupil caseload within statutory timescales.
- Make initial judgements regarding the initiation of statutory assessments and the amending of Education, Health and Care Plans following annual review.
- Produce and amend Education, Health and Care Plans based on advice from medical, educational professionals, and other agencies.
- Address parental concerns and representations relating to statutory processes.
- Guide and direct the work of Administration and Clerical Officers relating to statutory processes.
- Ensure compliance with the expectations and obligations specified in the Education Health and Care Plans.
- Make decisions regarding the progress of children in line with expectations and advise accordingly.
- Arrange placements for children following initial assessment or annual review.
- Communicate with parents, attend statutory Annual Review meetings, and provide general advice and guidance on SEN-related matters.
- Extensive experience of working in the area of SEN or substantial experience in a relevant area.
- Ability to manage large caseloads, work under pressure, and make independent decisions.
- Competency in planning, implementing, and evaluating projects or statutory processes.
- Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing.
- Proficiency in using IT systems and databases, with a willingness to undertake training in Child Protection, Data Protection, and Freedom of Information legislation if not already completed.
