Interim SEN CaseworkerResponsible for managing the EHC needs assessment process for a set localityEnsuring all processes and decisions are accurately recorded on the SEN database and casework file
Job seniority: mid-to-senior level
Responsibilities
• Manage the EHC needs assessment process for a set locality• Carry out day to day casework, ensuring quality and consistency• Ensure effective prioritization of tasks for a set number of cases• Review reports and extract relevant information for EHC plans• Amend EHC plans within statutory timescale• Review needs of children with EHC plans annually• Authorize transport for children with special educational needs• Ensure schools hold annual reviews in time for consideration• Adhere to timescales and performance indicators for statutory assessments• Ensure all relevant parties are informed
Requirements
• Good standard of education, 'A' level or equivalent qualifications and/or experience• Knowledge and experience of working with statutory and voluntary agencies• Understanding, managing, and explaining complex procedures and legislation• Minimum of two years successful experience in education administration or a related field• Experience of working in a similar role within an LA for at least 12 months• Must have experience in tribunals• Use of IT, especially database processing and updating• Articulate, clear and concise written and oral communication skills• Ability to organize casework effectively• Flexible approach to working and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines• Ability to manage potentially stressful communication with others• Sensitivity to the concerns of parents, headteachers, and other professionals
