Special Needs Teacher (QTS)

Veritas are working with a secondary school located in Haackney, who are looking for a Special Needs (SEN) teacher who has experience working with Autsim.
Your role as SEN teacher will include helping to identify and assess individual needs of pupils. You will also be required to liaise with other members of staff such as therapists and teaching assistants to support children to raise standards to their full potential. The teacher will be required to plan, deliver, review and evaluate speech and language for specific pupils. You must be familiar with planning lessons and assessing for children who have a range of needs for example Autism, Speech and Language needs and more.
Main responsibilities
- Plan and deliver sessions tailored to invidual's progress and set realistic targets in accordance to EHCP to make appropriate progress.
- Liaise closely with therapists, teaching assistants and parents to make progress with pupils who need SEN/SLCN support.
- Develop and support initiatives to improve literacy/ maths standards within the school
Required skills and qualifications
- Degree and recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE) - QTS is essential for this role
- Qualification/experience in SEN
- Must have experience teaching with secondary aged children and ideally those with SEN/ Speech, Language and Communication needs.
- Skills to communicate effectively with all other staff members, parents and pupils.
- Ability to work very hard with positivity and perseverance.
- Subject to enhance DBS check
