Are you a dedicated and compassionate individual with a passion for supporting students with diverse needs? We have an exciting opportunity for a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant at SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) setting in Bournemouth.
The SEMH School setting is tailored to meet the unique needs of students with complex challenges related to Social, Emotional, and Mental Health. Similar to a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU), the school focuses on creating a supportive environment where all students have an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP). The school students present a mix of various needs, including but not limited to ADHD, Autism, Anxiety, and more.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to students with complex needs, ensuring their individual EHCPs are effectively implemented.
- Collaborate with teaching staff to create an inclusive and engaging curriculum that deviates across various subjects, including outdoor education.
- Foster a positive and nurturing learning environment to promote social, emotional, and mental well-being.
- A deep comprehension of the diverse needs associated with ADHD, Autism, Anxiety, and other conditions.
- An ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the unique requirements of individual students.
- Many of our students are more independent, requiring support for their specific needs.
- Awareness that, due to the complexity of our students' needs, our setting attracts more funding.
- All students at our SEMH setting will have an EHCP, emphasising the personalised approach to their education.
- The school setting encourages a deviation across the curriculum, including more outdoor education opportunities.
- Due to the complexity and students' needs, the school receives more substantial funding to better support their education.
- While the challenges can be significant, the role offers immense satisfaction in contributing to the growth and development of students facing complex hurdles.
