Classroom Support are excited to be working with an amazing School (ages 4-16) in Brentwood, CM15!
The school are currently looking for an enthusiastic and inspirational SEN Teaching Assistant with experience supporting students who have special education needs (SEN). Ideal candidates will have experience supporting such students in 1:1 and group settings and have first-hand experience working with children with SEN such as ADHD, Autism, ASD or other SEN.
The school is looking to recruit experienced SEN Teaching Assistants who are capable and confident in supporting pupils with SEN and can cater for their needs and to provide educational, social and emotional support to enable them to access the same curriculum as their peers.
Long-term positions are available; you will be working on long-term supply. You will be assessed over this period and will be considered for a permanent position if you are performing exceptionally.
As a new SEN Teaching Assistant, you will receive fantastic support. The school value SEN TAs who are able to carry out agreed learning and support strategies and are capable of effectively communicating with teachers, pupils, and other staff.
There is a highly competitive rate of pay which is £425 - £450 a week for working hours of 8.30am-3.30pm.
Working days are Monday-Friday, term-time only. To start in March 2024.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Work under direct supervision of the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo).
- Carrying out delegated tasks by classroom teachers in a positive manner.
- Support pupils 1:1 or in small groups, particularly pupils with SEN.
- Create simple resources to support pupils’ work.
- Promoting the school’s culture and ethos.
- Be willing to participate in lunch-time cover.
Candidate Requirements
- No experience is 100% required but any experience of working in a school in the past two years is very advantageous.
- Must have or be willing to pay for a DBS (£52.20) and be willing to register it on the update service (£13 a year).
- Advantageous holding of a Teaching Assistant qualification.
- Advantageous to have previous experience in the care sector.
- Advantageous to have previous teaching/tutoring/mentoring experience.
- Advantageous to have personal experience working with close family/siblings with SEN.
