My client are seeking an experienced SEND Resolutions Officer to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for responding to Stage 1 and 2 complaints, Ombudsman investigations, and other complex queries. This role also supports our legal teams in responding to Judicial Review pre-action protocols. While the position involves some frontline communication with families, it does not entail ongoing casework.
Day to Day of the role:- Deal with complaints and legal challenges, including those from the press.
- Advise and assist parents regarding the complaints process, specifically within appropriate educational provision and placement and cases referred under the Health-Education Notification process.
- Provide general advice to parents and schools on Children’s Services policies and statutory guidance on exclusions, admissions, and attendance issues.
- Ensure the voice of the child is heard and actioned.
- Provide written case statements for Local Government Ombudsman and the Statutory Assessment and Provision Lead as required.
- Maintain high personal standards through continuing professional development.
- Be flexible and adaptable to change, assisting other services as required.
- Uphold Council Values and abide by all relevant policies and procedures, particularly those relating to Safeguarding, Equality and Diversity, and Health & Safety.
- Relevant degree and/or equivalent professional qualification such as social work, youth work, education welfare, or teaching, or a proven track record in a similar post.
- Ability to work flexibly across different locations and areas as appropriate.
- Competency in analysing and interpreting multi-agency professional reports to make judgements about children’s special educational needs and the provision required to meet those needs.
- Ability to summarise reports in a logical, clear, and concise way.
- Independent work ethic and effective time management skills.
- Ability to manage change effectively and promote it as a natural process within the organisation and the wider social context.
