Over the last 2 years Rochdale has embarked on a co-design journey with children and families and has developed a set of clear outcomes for Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND). We have made a set of ambitious commitments which can be found in 5 year SEND Strategy. As part of our improvement we have redesigned our system to develop a strong integrated team approach and have agreed a set of improvement priorities. We have an opening to recruit a new SEND Service Manager. The role will lead internal statutory operational services within the Local Authorities SEND system. The post holder will have extensive specialist knowledge of SEND, EHCP and statutory procedure and process.
Responsibilities:
As the SEND Service Manager, you will be entrusted with overseeing Rochdale Local Authorities' internal SEND services, ensuring they meet the diverse needs of children and their families. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the commissioning and quality assurance of external provision to address the needs of children with SEND and their families.
- Acting as an expert advisor to Children’s Service’s Assistant Directors to ensure compliance with statutory regulations concerning SEND.
- Leading and managing the operational delivery of the Education Health and Care Planning Team (EHCP), ensuring efficient and effective service provision.
- Collaborating with various stakeholders to establish and drive the strategic direction of the SEND services team.
- Ensuring statutory compliance with the council's key SEND functions and managing internal resources to optimize support for children with SEND.
