We wish to appoint a Special Education Needs Teacher to start as soon as possible. The SEND Teacher role is vital to our school, you will be supporting in identifying pupils with SEND, take a lead role in the development of teaching and learning and small step curriculum development in our SEND unit and you will develop assessment processes in conjunction with the SENDCo, provide support and guidance to colleagues across the school ensuring that our SEND provision is promoting good outcomes for all our pupils with SEN or a disability. The role also includes PPA and leadership covers.
The successful candidate will have:
- Have a secure knowledge and understanding of the Primary curriculum and SEND provision in the school.
- Have a sound knowledge of how to use IT effectively throughout their professional role.
- Understand the responsibilities under the SEND Code of Practice and know how to seek advice from specialists.
- Have a secure knowledge of a range of learning and physical needs and difficulties, such as, ADHD, ODD, ADD, SEMH, ASD, Downs syndrome, HI, VI.

Background Information about the School
We are a two-form entry primary school and nursery situated in the heart of Aston; a stone’s throw away from Birmingham City Centre. We welcome pupils aged 3 – 11 years old and we are a non-denominational school welcoming pupils from multiple faiths and backgrounds in a vibrant and multicultural community.
We are proud to serve over 30 different ethnic groups that represent our school community. Most of our pupils have English as an Additional Language and this enhances the rich, diverse ethos of our school.
Our whole building has recently been refurbished with new windows and central heating throughout.
