Teaching Assistant (SEND Support)
• Hourly Rate: £13.43
• Location: Nelson
• Job Type: Part-time (9-12 Monday to Friday)
• Start Date: After Easter (April), for the entire summer term initially
We are seeking a dedicated Level 2 Teaching Assistant to provide SEND support at a friendly nursery school in Nelson. This role is ideal for someone passionate about early childhood education and experienced in special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) support.
Day to day of the role:
• Assist in the delivery of educational activities and structured play, tailored to children with SEND.
• Support the classroom teacher in creating an inclusive, supportive environment that enables all children to participate and learn.
• Work closely with children who have special educational needs, providing one-to-one support and small group interventions as required.
• Monitor and record the progress of children with SEND, communicating effectively with the teacher and parents.
• Prepare learning materials and resources under the guidance of the teacher.
• Help maintain a clean and organised learning environment, ensuring safety and wellbeing of the children at all times.
• Attend staff meetings and training sessions to develop professional skills and knowledge.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
• Experience working with children with SEND in an educational setting.
• Strong understanding of the early years curriculum and child development.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
• Patience, empathy, and a positive, encouraging approach to supporting children with additional needs.
