Job description

Warrington Youth Zone are committed to creating an inclusive space for young people.

Your role will be central in supporting young people with disabilities to access the youth zone, overcoming whatever barrier preventing them to. You will support in a 1:1 or 1:4 capacity within our Junior and Senior sessions enable young people with disabilities to participate in activities across the session.

Shifts available are on a Sunday from 10.45a.m. - 3.15p.m., Monday 3.30p.m. - 9.15p.m. and Tuesday 3.30 - 8.15p.m. The successful applicants will be offered between 1 - 3 shifts per week.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Together with the Springboard Lead, develop and implement activities and a programme that is exciting, challenging and ever changing
  • The role is 100% face to face delivery with SEND young people
  • To work directly with SEND young people to develop their social skills
  • To directly deliver a high-quality programme of activity that is exciting, safe, varied,

innovative, developmental and directly responds to the diverse needs, concerns and

interests of the members

  • You will laugh, a lot at really rubbish jokes!
  • To have great energy and establish positive relationships with young people, the wider youth work team and visitors to the Youth Zone
  • To respond to the needs of young people through activities across the youth zone including arts and sports
  • To work flexibly to ensure the needs of the members are met, including Personal care, feeding support and administering medication. (training to be provided)
  • To support members to maintain a high standard of behaviour and discipline during session.
  • To ensure the participation of young people in activities and ensure that their ideas contribute fully in the delivery of activities in a safe way
  • To be able to think on your feet and create a fun activity with minimal equipment
  • To promote cultural cohesion and inclusion and proactively challenge any prejudice and discrimination
  • Be a role model for young people and present a positive “can do” attitude
  • Take personal responsibility for own actions
  • Commit to a culture of continuous improvement
  • Work within the performance framework of Warrington Youth Zone and OnSide
  • Comply with all policies and procedures, with particular reference to safeguarding, codes of conduct health and safety and equality and diversity to ensure all activities are accessible
  • To be alert to issues of safeguarding and child protection, ensuring the welfare and safety of Youth Zone members is promoted and safeguarded, and to report any child protection concerns to the designated Safeguarding Lead using the safeguarding policies, procedures and practice (training to be provided)
  • Represent Warrington Youth Zone positively and effectively in all dealings with internal colleagues, and external partners
  • To actively promote the Youth Zone and positively contribute towards increasing Youth Zone membership
  • Any other duties as may reasonably be required
