Working with our clients team of accountants, you will be required to complete end to end accounting tasks for a range of SME businesses, using industry leading tools.
You will look after a portfolio of clients spanning across a variation of sectors, providing accountancy and tax services to an existing client base consisting of both corporate and private clients.
An accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA or ACA) is required together with relevant UK accounting and tax experience coming from an accountancy practice.
Technology changes require a different approach to managing work and clients. Technical online software, general knowledge and good communication skills are necessary.
Responsibilities
Accountancy related matters:
- Preparation, completion and finalising the financial statements in accordance with FRS, UK GAAP, IAS, IFRS and the UK Companies Act.
- Manage outsourcing work with team members and clients in respect of different work loads and timing.
- Use cloud accounting tools to process transactions, prepare and post journals, update all ledgers, perform bank reconciliations ready for the monthly reporting process.
- Give direction, training, supervision and review work at all levels to ensure that work meets appropriate standards of quality in accounting, company secretarial, and taxation matters.
- Hold client meetings to advise them of potential Tax/Accounting implications.
- Discuss management accounts and other matters with client directors and stakeholders.
- Provide the professional financial management (CFO Services) back up to the clients in their business.
- Adequate knowledge of company secretarial payroll, PTR and auto-enrolment services.
- Business Development consists of internal and external work on generating more business to the firm and developing new services/products as required within the client base.
- Fiduciary services for clients and companies which are done with different associates inside the UK.
Tax related matters:
- Consulting with clients and associates on a national level, including business structures. Liaise with other associates, depending on clients' corporate and individual requirements.
- Consulting on all aspects of personal, UK and having some knowledge of other international taxes, UK knowledge with completion of MTD including CT, VAT, CIS, ATED and other HMRC returns.
- Liaising with HMRC authorities on various tax matters on behalf of clients. managing enquiries and prompt responses where applicable.The firm has a tax insurance product for clients
- Preparation and review of tax services for companies, charities, partnerships and individuals.
- Development and management of tax compliance (corporate and individual) for the company. In addition researching client requirements and attending relevant courses/webinars for both oneself and other members within the company in order to keep everyone up to date.
Candidate Requirements
- Fully ACA or ACCA qualified with at least 2-3 years post-qualification experience within a UK practice
- Have excellent interpersonal and communications skills, a team culture is essential
- Be expected to build on very good relationships with both clients and colleagues
- Able to develop and maintain a willingness to accept new challenges which are ongoing as we strive to improve our own eficiencies as the profession changes more to an advisory role
- Able to cross sell other company services to clients
- Have good computer skills in MSOffice, Teams, SharePoint and other data-based products, QuickBooks and Zero online, Taxcalc, Iris or Sage or similar integrated packages are useful
- All client tasks and deadlines are driven via the SharePoint / Taxcalc databases
