Salary range: Newly Qualified £28,282, Qualified £32,076, Experienced £35,745 p.a. plus benefits, depending on experience.

37 hours per week - part-time working applications considered

Your next role

For your role as a Senior Accounting Technician you will be proactive and self-motivated bringing enthusiasm and experience of working with budget managers and/or financial stakeholders and systems. You will be part of a team which supports a range of services and budget managers in the preparation of budgets, support of the budget monitoring process, the annual closedown of accounts or capital and treasury services as well as ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting.

As a member of the finance team you will be able to work flexibly, in accordance with Swindon’s hybrid first working approach, you will have the opportunity to work from home for a significant proportion of the week, subject to the needs of the service and training requirements.

The roles have three entry levels Newly Qualified (NQ), Qualified (Q) and Experienced (E), this is reflected in the salary grade range. You will be provided with the opportunity to build on existing skills and experience as part of a formal development programme. Further development opportunities may include CIPFA training and Apprenticeship opportunities.

As a minimum you will be required to be qualified AAT Level 4 or equivalent finance related qualification/a part qualified accountant. Duties will be diverse, you will take responsibility for day to day decision making within the role and have the ability to analyse financial data and identify trends. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills to support others to have a good understanding of financial matters of varying complexity.

You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act "for the effective performance of a customer-facing role").
