Senior AV Design Engineer - Immersive and Interactive Projects

About the Role: We are on the lookout for a highly skilled Senior AV Design Engineer, specialising in fixed installation projects. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience in audio-visual systems, control technologies, media servers, and a proven ability to design and implement immersive, technically sophisticated experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

1. AV System Design: Lead the design and specification of complex AV systems for immersive/interactive projects. Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, ensuring seamless integration of audio, video, lighting, and show control elements. Your expertise in show control systems will be pivotal in designing interactive experiences with precise synchronisation and control.
2. Media Server Integration: Manage the integration of media servers into AV systems, optimising performance and content delivery for immersive experiences.
3. Networked System Design: Design and implement networked AV systems, ensuring efficient communication and data exchange for enhanced control and flexibility.
4. Technical Documentation: Prepare comprehensive design documentation, including schematics, equipment lists, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
5. Handover Documentation: Produce detailed handover documentation, including operating manuals, user guides, maintenance instructions, and Health and Safety documentation such as Design Risk Assessments (DRAs).
6. Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough testing and quality assurance, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues to ensure the reliability and functionality of AV systems.
7. Vendor Relations: Maintain strong relationships with equipment suppliers and manufacturers, staying abreast of the latest technologies.
8. Team Leadership: Mentor junior engineers and technicians, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
9. Client Interaction: Engage with clients to understand their vision and requirements, providing technical expertise and solutions.
10. Industry Trends: Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in the LBE/Immersive sector, recommending innovative solutions.

You would must have:

• Minimum 4 years in a senior AV role/consultancy.
• Extensive experience managing technical budgets, installations, logistics, and engineering teams.
• Strong competency in audio-visual technology, show control systems, and media networks.
• Proficiency in IT networks including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, etc.
• Knowledge of Autocad, Revit, BIM, and Sketchup software.
• Passion for working with advanced and cutting-edge technologies.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
• Proficiency in standard office programs (MS Word, Excel, Outlook) and AV software. AutoCAD and/or MS Vision experience is a plus.
• Exceptional project management skills and the ability to work under pressure.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.

It would be great of you had:

• Familiarity with 3D audio, projection mapping, and immersive technologies.
• Experience with advanced control systems.
• Background in theme parks, museums, visitor attractions, or location-based entertainment.
• Experience in implementing next-generation technologies.
• Experience in designing and programming lighting/SFX systems.
• Proficiency in electronics, including hands-on skills with electronic components and circuitry.
