Hutcheon Mearns are currently recruiting for a growing business, based in Dundee, operating in the Property sector. Working for an owner-managed business and reporting to the Finance Director, this is a key role in a company that has grown through acquisition and plans to continue its' growth plans into 2024. Due to this growing demand, a new position has arisen for a Senior Bookkeeper / Accountant to support the Finance Director and Managing Director by ensuring strong financial management from invoice processing through to preparation of quarterly management accounts across a portfolio of legal entities within a group of businesses.

The role

You will take on a hands-on financial management role which will involve daily bank reconciliations, cashflow management and sales/purchase invoice processing. You will process the accounts to trial balance via Xero accounting software and undertake month-end reconciliations - bank, expenses, intercompany and balance sheet. Credit control will form part of your remit as will managing the allocation of payments and some of the entities will require in-house payroll processing. You will provide ad-hoc support to the Finance Director including analysis of accounts, monitoring of debtors and creditors and providing information to external Accountants. Other tasks will include preparing VAT returns and year-end reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.

The candidate

This is an excellent role for an individual who enjoys a varied and busy workload in an environment with multiple legal entities and group responsibilities. It is a fantastic role for someone who is experienced in transactional processing such as Accounts Payable, Receivable, Credit Control and Treasury and who has a strong understanding of accounting principles. You may have accountancy qualifications although relevant experience will also be considered. A pro-active mindset, ability to work on your own initiative and ability to prioritise workload, will all be key attributes of the successful candidate. This is a full-time role (9am-5pm Mon to Friday), although flexibility can be afforded on start/finish times. Experience with accountancy software Xero and proficiency in Excel, will be highly advantageous.
