Senior Building Surveyor

Our client is a local authority based in Somerset which is seeking an experienced Senior Building Surveyor to join them for a contract role.
As a Senior Surveyor you will lead on, and be responsible for, the provision of a professional building surveying service for the Council working on a wide range of properties. This will include the primary role of directly managing staff and external consultants and contractors and providing advice and guidance to other Council service areas and the wider in-house team relating to property assets.
Duties will include:
1. Contribution to a providing a planned maintenance programme
2. Project Management and specification of minor capital projects max £1-2m including seeking planning ( including Listed building consent) and building control consent, awarding and managing build contract.
3. Managing responsive and remedial repairs by appointing contractors to undertake minor repairs including specification and seeking consents for repairs if necessary.
4. Securing advice, calculation and specification of mechanical and electrical systems for replacement and renewal or supply to new capital project.
5. Specification, contract award and management off supply of new M and E systems for new construction.
6. Securing appropriate advice and calculation of replacement systems to enable bidding for Public Sector decarbonisation and contribution to Net Zero targets.
Applicants for this post should be degree educated in Surveying and be registered with an appropriate institution; e.g. MRICS. You will need to have proven experience in project managing the improvement and disrepair projects for a Local Authority. You will need experience of working within a politically driven organisation operating at a senior level with elected or board members.
The role will initially be offered for 6 months but it could be extended beyond this The rate offered is £375/day Umbrella and this role is inside IR35. Flexible working arrangements are offered.
