Senior Buyer

Senior Buyer - Coleford - 37 hours per week - Monday to Friday

30 mins unpaid lunch break per day.

Our client works in a niche sector providing top solutions for pumps. Our client is well known to provide a multiple of pumps for different purposes. They are a global company which can offer progression and support throughout your career growth.

Our client is looking for a established buyer with experience in engineering or production buying, to help with their agreed objectives for the purchasing department. You will help with managing supplier relationships and deliver quality products on time.

Responsibilities of the Senior Buyer:

• Deliver the purchasing strategy and aid continous improvement with the Purchasing Manager.
• Amend purchase orders following authorisation procedures.
• Place purchase orders.
• Lead or aid with project work.
• Ensure the supplier agreements are maintained, introduce confidentiality agreements, log order acknowledgements and action invoice queries.
• Monitor all overdue orders.
• Set saving targets in line with company strategy.
• Monitor due orders.
• Be the point of escalation for purchasing issues and deliveries.
• Manage the purchasing team.
• Lead performance appraisals and set development plans.
• Negotiate with suppliers.
• Conduct supplier audits.
• Action NCR's.
• Maintain quote files and negotiate price reductions.
• Review MRP demands.
• Attend regular meetings representing the purchasing team.
• Manage key suppliers and new suppliers.
• Handle contract disputes.
• Perform planned regular audits for strategic vendors and oversee vendors audits.

Key Experience for the Senior Buyer:

• Experience of Supplier development.
• People management experience and team leader experience.
• Auditing skills.
• Financially and commercially astute.
• Ideally a member of CIPS or working towards it. (desirable)
• Continous improvement experience.
• Knowledge of SAP and MRP.
• Experience within manufacturing, production or engineering is required.

This will be office based with some global travel when required - this will not be regularly.
