Senior Buyer

**Candidates will have strategic purchasing experience and will be CIPS Level 6 qualified (or equivalent)**

My client has an excellent opportunity for a Senior Buyer / Commodity Manager to join their team on a permanent basis. This is a great opportunity to be part of a global business who pride themselves on career progression and employee satisfaction - working within the automotive industry from their plant in Lancashire.

The European Purchasing team have responsibility for Purchasing activities relating to various models. This responsibility requires the management of the Supply Base and sourcing activities to support projects within the UK, European and South American facilities, in order to improve the Quality and Cost competitiveness of the product.

Main Duties & Responsibilities include:

• Management of a complex supplier package with an annual spend in excess of £50M
• Develop commodity strategies working closely with global purchasing colleagues.
• Achievement and reporting of Company targets on cost control, quality improvement and lead time improvement.
• Development of partnership relationships with vendors within the package.
• Work with suppliers to implement the companies Cost Management Programme and ensure Six Sigma projects are defined and implemented.
• Manage a complex and varied workload, ensuring attention is maintained on key actions.

The successful candidate will have:

• Very strong interpersonal, negotiating and influencing skills.
• Good commercial awareness.
• Must be a good communicator with a flexible, self - managing approach to workload and the ability to adhere to strict deadlines.
• Confident presenter at senior management level both internally and externally.
• Good Quality, Engineering, Process and Materials background.
• CIPS Membership
• Self-motivated, flexible and team player with ability to meet deadlines.
• Driving License
• Passport - Willing to travel on a regular basis and prepared to spend time away from home & abroad.
