Our client, based on the outskirts of Leeds, has been established 26 years and is the market leader in the manufacture of furniture for the Hospitality Industry. They design, manufacture and fit out hotels with bespoke furniture for clients such as Marriott, Hilton, Sheraton, Holiday Inn & Crowne Plaza.
The company operates within a dynamic and fast paced environment & the business is experiencing great growth. They are looking for an ambitious graduate to join the buying department.
Job Purpose
You will be responsible for buying a range of products within the company and on-boarding new and managing existing suppliers.
The right candidate will have 3 years+ experience in purchasing and procurement in a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Source products from existing and new suppliers
- Negotiate prices and terms for existing and new products to ensure best value
- Grow supply chain by finding and onboarding new suppliers
- Ensure products procured meet required QA requirements and are certified appropriately
- Manage the critical path ensuring all orders are arriving on time
- Agree and manage SLA’s with key suppliers.
- Ensure that a supplier database is maintained with up to date details, product information and pricing
- Forecasting stock requirements and placing orders to ensure stock levels are maintained
- Monitor inventory levels and re-ordering accordingly and in line with demand
- Lead, develop and mentor a small team.
- Working closely with all operational teams; production, quality, design to ensure continuity of supply
- Implement and Continuously improve the processes within the buying department.
- Work closely with the Commercial, Marketing and Manufacturing teams to continually improve entire supply chain for the business.
Skills & qualifications
- Flexible in approach to working in a busy environment
- A thorough understanding of Material Requirement Planning, purchasing tools and techniques
- Negotiation skills
- Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail.
- Driving license required
- IT Literate, especially excel.
- A track record in furniture related materials purchasing would be an advantage.
- Educated to degree level would be an advantage.
- Qualified or working towards CIPS (Chartered Institute of Purchasing) would be an advantage
