Job description
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Haematology Department at the Royal Free Hospital site for a Senior Clinical Fellow post from Feb 24 for an initial 6 months, and with the possibility of extension. The Royal Free Hospital and UCLP offer a world-class centre for basic and clinical research. The KD Haemophilia and Thrombosis Centre is a comprehensive care centre with an international reputation in inherited bleeding disorders. In addition, the thrombosis service provides thrombolysis service for deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism and abdominal vein thrombosis. The General Haematology service is transforming following a recent merger with Haemophilia and Anticoagulation service. The service is very active in clinical research running phase 1 to phase IV clinical trials. There are opportunities for retrospective reviews and writing of manuscripts.
The post is full-time unbanded with working hours between Monday-Friday 09:00-17:00 and would be suitable for Haematology trainees at ST3+ level. There is scope for participation in a 1:8 rota (1B banding), and the activities and assessments are as provided in the updated curriculum for haematology training published by the Joint Royal College of Physicians Training Board.

CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Participate in Haematology, Haemophilia and thrombosis clinics
• Review patients, including review of patients in clinical trials and comply with good clinical practice
• Responsible for surgical plans for patients with inherited bleeding disorders and bridging anticoagulation plans for complex surgeries in patients on long-term anticoagulation
• Run telephone clinics for long-term patients
• Support national and commercial studies in the area of haematology on the national portfolio.
• Review laboratory data and understand the principles for haematology and coagulation testing and support other clinical staff in choosing the proper test
• Coordinate diagnostic and treatment procedures along with the Junior haematology registrars
• Support the nurses and lab team for the running of routine service
