Job Description

Direct line and performance management and mentoring of procurement specialists
* Senior commercial expertise responsible for the management, execution and quality assurance, including robust risk management, of the commercial procurement pillar of Commercial Operations
* Be a Senior Commercial business partner and lead direct reports in business partnering to support the delivery of commercial procurement
* To be an expert resource in designing, leading and running all aspects of public sector procurement exercises and contract management (including coaching junior colleagues through such exercises)
* Work with the Commercial & Procurement Director and independently to proactively develop and deliver strategic and commercially focused options analyses, sourcing strategies and commercial opportunities and initiatives
* Developing the commercial procurement function
* Establishing and delivering a Supplier Management Community in conjunction with Supplier Relationship Management and Senior Procurement Manager
* Developing the commerciality of colleagues within Commercial Operations and the business through the contract owner's forum, training, blogs etc
* Coaching and mentoring of direct reports and supporting the upskilling of our team in procurement, contracting and commerciality
* Contribute to, develop and assure the accuracy and integrity of compelling MI insights and analysis that provide management with high quality analysis of the Bank's commercial activities to inform strategic decision making
* Develop and embed continuous improvements
* Create and maintain commercial procurement processes, tools and strategy in our Commercial Manual
* Horizon scanning and analysis including supporting the development and leading the implementation of our approach to ESG in our procurements
* Develop and deliver guidance and training materials for Commercial Operations and stakeholders
* Ensuring adherence to the Government Functional Standards
* Assist the Commercial & Procurement Director in establishing the function as a strategic partner to all other functions within the Bank
* Attend internal and external forums and collaborative sessions, as required, including triage, DBT, DDaT meetings
* Work in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholder groups to develop and deliver commercial and sourcing best practice
* Build strong relationships across the business and with the supplier base, ensuring that business strategies are integrated into the commercial planning process
* Act as a brand ambassador for Commercial Operations

The Successful Applicant

Essential:
* Experience in contract management, managing strategic suppliers
* Experience of developing and implementing commercial strategic strategies
* An excellent working understanding of public procurement, commercial contracts and supplier relationships
* Demonstrable commercial awareness with an ability to provide robust commercially focused advice
* Excellent communicator with strong expertise engaging and building relationships with senior stakeholder groupsDesirable:
* Proven track record of line management
