Cambridgeshire County Council is looking for two Senior Commissioning Managers to join our Children’s Commissioning Service. We have opportunities within Children in Care (CiC) and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities 0-25 (SEND). This is a unique opportunity to be part of our high performing commissioning service.

What will you be doing?

You will be part of a creative and forward-thinking management team, taking responsibility as lead for all elements of the commissioning cycle. This is your chance to influence and implement the strategic commissioning direction of the relevant portfolio area. Leading your team to support the delivery of our recently implemented Service and Forward Plan, paving the way for  future service delivery excellence.

You will have the opportunity to develop and maintain close working relationships with operational colleagues and Integrated Care Board colleagues as well as internal and external service providers driving contract management and maintaining strong partnership working.

About you

You will have:

  • Significant experience in commissioning within children's services.
  • Strong leadership skills with a focus on team collaboration and motivation
  • A proven track record in managing service providers
  • Extensive experience in strategy / policy development and service improvement
  • Commercial acumen to ensure value for money in service delivery
  • Demonstrable understanding of best practices in commissioning and project delivery.
  • Knowledge of early intervention, prevention services, and support for children in Care, Children with disabilities / SEND
  • The ability to lead on commissioning services across various specialist areas.
  • Strong analytical and interpretative skills for effective service evaluation.
  • Well-developed communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in negotiating and influencing, with a variety of strategies and tactics.
  • Strong self-management and supervisory skills.
