The charity exists to ensure that state decision-making is fair and lawful, and that each person has the power to hold public bodies to account. The charity represents, and supports people marginalised through poverty, discrimination, or disadvantaged when they have been affected by unlawful state decision-making.
An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Communications Officer to join the team. As Senior Communications Officer, you will play a key role in delivering the charity’s day-to-day communications. You will identify and capitalise on opportunities to create compelling, newsworthy content, translating technical reports and legal casework into blogs, social media posts, press release and other forms of content. Whether you are communicating about a government consultation on constitutional reform, a case involving a vulnerable asylum seeker, or research co-produced with benefit claimants, you will need to achieve a depth of understanding of the charity’s work and communicate it with clarity. This is a full-time, permanent role with flexible working options available.
Who are we looking for?
Ideal candidates will possess excellent oral and written communication skills. You will have an eye for a good story and strong instincts as to who the charity should tell it to, how, and for what purpose. Prior experience of successfully placing stories in the media including pitching stories and writing press releases will be beneficial to this role as well as having experience of writing compelling copy for a range of digital channels, adapting language to specific and varied audiences and purposes. Some understanding of key communications, PR and marketing concepts e.g., audience personas, key messages will be essential for this role.
