We are looking for a Senior Communications Specialist for a 12-month contract based in Bristol on a hybrid working model with 3 days per week on site, on behalf of our globally respected client who develop cutting-edge technologies that deliver clean, safe, and competitive solutions to meet the planet's vital power needs.

Job description - the role

You will provide internal communications support to the team responsible for raising awareness of the business's products, services, and projects among our employees and key internal stakeholders. This role will support the wider strategic marketing function to deliver communication campaigns across the Global Defence business. We will provide an environment where you can be yourself. As a Senior Communications Specialist you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the Internal Communications Manager to source, develop and publish a variety of campaign material that directly supports key business strategic priorities - including written, email and video - through established internal Rolls-Royce channels, as well as measuring effectiveness on a timely and regular basis.
  • Delivering the digital marketing requirements within the Defence business, including graphic design, editing, and developing video content, web editing and content creation for social media and other interactive digital packages. From initial briefing to the final output, this exciting role involves key stakeholder management, excellent attention to detail, a creative eye and an extensive knowledge of design packages/print options.
  • Acting as the regional Defence Internal Communications Lead for the United Kingdom with additional focus on communications support for the Defence site in Bristol. You will also provide internal communications support to Defence leadership in support of their respective engagement plans.
  • Supporting as a web editor of a SharePoint based intranet platform developing and managing pages and content that aligns to the Internal Communications plan. Manage and update distribution lists to ensure communications reach our intended audiences.
  • Coordinating and supporting Defence Roadshows, employee 'Town Halls', and other events.
  • Working in conjunction with the wider IC team to provide support to the wider Strategic Marketing function, as required and deputise for the Internal Communications Manager, where appropriate.
  • Acting as one of the lead points of contact between Defence and Group communications.

What we require from the candidate:

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications, notably Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word as well as awareness and basic capability in the use of SharePoint and email distribution tools.
  • Basic video capture and editing experience is preferable.
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a global team with the ability to communicate, influence, prioritise and manage demands from multiple stakeholders across multiple levels of the organisation. You will also be confident in providing guidance and advice on areas of expertise to members of the Defence and Corporate Communications teams, across all levels of the organisation.
  • Strong writing skills, with broad experience of drafting communications materials, event scripts and speeches, stakeholder briefings and reactive lines to take and experience creating and executing short, medium, and long-term communications plans.
  • Bachelor's degree in communications or related field and 3-5 years of relevant Communications experience - In lieu of a degree, additional work experience is acceptable.
