Senior Community Play Worker

Harlow District Council

Permanent, Term Time

£31,134 to £32,297 per annum (pro rata for part-time hours in term time)

Location: Harlow

Essex County Council are delighted to be working in partnership with Harlow Council to recruit for the role of Senior Community Play Worker .

Hours: 18 per week in term time and 37.5 per week in Easter, Summer and Christmas school holidays (banking either 14 minutes or 30 minutes per week to be used at an alternative time of the year in agreement with your manager)

Interview date: Thursday 4 April 2024

The opportunity:

We are looking to recruit a motivated individual to oversee and directly deliver services for children with Special educational needs and disability (SEND).

Applicants should have experience of working with children and young people with a disability and leading on delivery of services within a play or care setting and should be qualified to at least NVQ Level 2 in Play Work, Children's Care Learning and Development or hold some other qualification relevant to the position.

The successful applicant will take a lead role in relation to all aspects of service delivery and will oversee a small team of highly skilled and experienced Play Workers to deliver a weekly Youth Club session and all day Play Scheme sessions in the main school holidays.

This position requires the post holder to plan and deliver a range of activities that are both fun and stimulating; supervise children; administer medication; attend to service users personal care needs and regularly liaise with parents and carers. The postholder will also be required to assist with the planning and delivery of the West Essex Inclusion Project.

Applicants should possess sound knowledge and understanding of play and care settings; Safeguarding; Health and Safety; Disability, Equal Opportunities; Child Development and the cultural needs of children and young people from all backgrounds. You should have experience of working within a confidential environment and be able to create, maintain and store confidential records both electronically and in hard format.

The successful applicant will be required to complete an application for an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check and any offer of employment will be subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks.
