Job description

The CDS Group are the only development management company specialising in Crematoria and Cemetery Planning, Design, and Environment Services. The projects we undertake are challenging, varied and are for both public and private sector clients; with project values ranging between £250k to £15m.

Due to rapid increase in company growth, The CDS Group are seeking a Senior Construction Project Manager to develop a new team of Assistant Project Managers within the business to manage projects through the RIBA Stages as well as a rare opportunity of being exposed to projects right from inception with the planning and design in-house team.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Previous Project Management experience within a UK construction consultancy.
  • Strong NEC experience.
  • Hold a BSc/MSc in Project Management or related construction field.
  • A successful track record in delivering projects from RIBA 0 inception to RIBA 7 completion ideally.
  • Experience in coordinating and managing a team of consultants through the RIBA design stages. Preparing and taking ownership of the master program for each development across the tender and construction phases. Experience in managing the design and procurement process under the Design and Build contracting route, and as employer (or representing the employer) post-contract. Understanding in negotiating legal contracts, particularly JCT format and any client amendment documents A highly motivated individual seeking responsibility and accountability, with the ability to deliver consistently high-quality work. An individual seeking to work closely with the Senior Management Team of a fast-growing investment/development business, with the ability to think independently, provide insight into key business decisions and positively affect outcome.
  • The applicant is required to have a full UK driving license, with willingness to travel to site visits across the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the completion of PM documentation (i.e. Programme of Works, Risk Register, Issues log, Lessons learned). Monitoring the design process to ensure completion on time and to the required standard. Assisting in the preparation of tender documentation and contractor selection process. Assisting in negotiating the technical and commercial aspects of construction contracts, coordinating the preparation of the Employer’s Requirements. Acting as day-to-day liaison with the main contractor and professional team. Focus on liaison with the EA and QS. Assisting on regular site inspections to ensure works are progressing in accordance with the ER’s.  Attending regular progress meetings with the main contractor to review and check the progress of the works having regard to timing, cost and quality. Aiding the preparation and administration of various legal contracts including building contracts and consultant appointments/warranties. Assisting with progress reports and recommendations to investors and lenders including reviewing and updating tracker documentation Preparing and maintaining action, progress, risk and compliance trackers to ensure risks are managed, actions completed, and issues resolved. Attending regular design team meetings to ensure design is developed to conform with the Employer’s Requirements Overseeing completion and handover of the project from construction site to completed building. Including liaison with building occupiers and managing agents. Assisting with concluding the final account and monitoring the property during the defect’s liability period.
