The Senior Cost Planner is responsible for all cost planning and construction bids for internal and external clients from inception stage onwards.
What will you do?

  • Accountable for all financial inputs into the project cost plan.
  • Review and analyse all inputs received from other members of the project team and assess their appropriateness.
  • Responsible for setting and establishing the cost planning strategy and timeframes.
  • Assess resource requirements for agreement by Management.
  • Able to accurately quantify and price cost plans from Development Briefs / Feasibility stage through to Contract Price with preferred contractor.
  • Participate and evaluate Value Engineering solutions and Value Management.
  • Responsible for all inputs into the cost sections of the relevant governance review documentation.
  • In collaboration with the pre-construction consultant/commercial managers, secure market prices for trade packages and analyse same against cost plan allowances.
  • Ability to price on a Labour, Plant and Materials basis from first principles is desirable but not essential.
  • Stay up to date with the current inflation forecasts and apply these to your project using the inflation calculation templates. Maintain an awareness of the market conditions and published reports effecting inflation to be able to justify the inflation amount included within your cost plan.
  • Support the development of best practices / standards, knowledge base, sector expertise including industry trends, yard sticks, or benchmarks. Ensure knowledge sharing and skills transfer to train, develop, and upskill the wider cost planning team.
  • Communicate in a clear, concise, open manner with other members of the team.
You will bring
  • Have experience of working on large scale, complex, multi-phase projects with an excellent knowledge of costing, pricing, prelims and benchmarking within the Construction and Development industries, with experience in the Office and Residential sectors. Public realm & infrastructure experience also desirable.
  • Able to accurately quantify and price cost plans/estimates from outline briefs through to contract price.
  • Familiar with standard methods of measurement and other industry/professional best practice and guidelines.
  • Must seek to understand the broader context and seek to bring design and build solutions that serve the wider Lendlease agenda.
  • Ability to engage collaboratively with sub-contractors / suppliers.
  • In collaboration with the Commercial Managers, secure market prices for trade and prelim packages and analyse same against cost plan allowances. Ability to price on a Labour, Plant and Materials basis from first principles is desirable.
