Senior Costs Draftsman

We have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Costs Draftsman to join our high performing Client Services department in DAS UK Group based out of our central Bristol offices.

The successful candidate will look to deal with claims for costs payable from our customers’ indemnity, whilst holding responsibility for ensuring appointed solicitors and adverse costs are correctly claimed in accordance with our customer’s policy of insurance.

Ensuring good customer outcomes are at the heart of everything we do, and excellent communication and negotiation skills are key to this position as you work constructively with our external costs firms and maintain good relationships with our customers appointed solicitors. As a subject matter expert for the cost team and wider business, you can expect to assist with technical costs queries, identifying knowledge gaps and providing solutions.

We’d like to hear from candidates with previous experience working as a Costs Lawyer or Costs Draftsman, or those who have experience of working in a costs or legal environment dealing with different types of legal matters. It is important that the successful applicant has a good understanding of costs industry regulations, Civil Procedure Rules, Practices Directions, relevant case law, and can demonstrate the following:

• Excellent core abilities including, numeracy, literacy and computer skills, in particular Microsoft Excel.
• The ability to work under pressure and deliver high quality performance against challenging deadlines, KPI’s, targets and SLA’s.
• The ability to work in a team environment, but in the main autonomously and to proactively manage your own caseload to a high standard.
• A proved desire to improve and take ownership of your own personal development and the development of others within the team and wider business
