Senior Credit Controller - Coleraine - Permanent

About the role:

  • Permanent
  • Coleraine Area
  • Monday to Friday, 9.00 am - 5.00 pm
  • £Negotiable (depending on experience)

As a Senior Credit Controller, you will report directly to the Financial Controller and be responsible for managing all credit control activities within the group. You will oversee the completion of these activities within the team, ensuring compliance with the company’s credit policies and procedures. Duties will include:

  • Portfolio Management: Manage a portfolio of clients and oversee the collection of debt within this portfolio.
  • Policy Compliance: Ensure compliance with the company’s credit policies and procedures to meet business objectives.
  • Debt Collection: Perform timely and effective collection of all debts and customer payments. Maintain regular contact with clients to ensure invoices are cleared for payment.
  • Query Resolution: Resolve internal and external queries regarding outstanding invoices.
  • Escalation: Escalate disputed or complex accounts to the Financial Controller promptly for appropriate management.
  • Credit Applications: Review, analyze, and formulate recommendations for credit applications.
  • Reporting: Develop payment history analysis and reporting to provide clarity on the current and forecast position of the debt ledger.

Criteria:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role, dealing with a large customer base including both consumer and commercial debt
  • A Level or above, or equivalent, in Accounting, Maths, or Finance
  • Experience managing a direct debit portfolio
  • Proficiency in using an accounts software package
  • Competence in MS Office and credit management software
  • Understanding of general ledger reconciliations
  • Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and individually
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Excellent customer service skills
