Job description

Senior Credit OfficerFunds Risk, EMEA is the team lead for the EMEA Funds Risk team which covers hedge funds, real money funds, and private equity funds in the region. As the Senior Credit approver on the team, they need to provide guidance to two other fund risk Credit Officers in the region. The role requires track record of investment industry credit approval in the banking environment with in-depth knowledge of the investment industry and lending and trading facilities product knowledge. The role requires abilities to communicate and negotiate with external and internal stakeholders: clients, sales, relationship managers, legal and compliance, regulators, etc. The EMEA Funds Risk team is part of the larger global Funds Risk team with members in New York, London, and Singapore.
The Role Responsibilities
Manage risk exposures of Funds portfolio. Provide early warning and identify deteriorating credits.Ensure risk identification, measurement, reporting, and modelling capabilities are objective, consistent, and compliant with applicable regulations.Ensure that material risk exposures and related issues are reported to the Global Head of Funds Risk.Ensure that the quality of Business Credit Applications (BCAs) meets Group standards, particularly with regards to the completeness and depth of risk analysis.Approve breaches of Portfolio Guidelines / Underwriting Guidelines, to the extent permitted under Credit Policy / Portfolio Guidelines.Ensure timely submission and accuracy of credit portfolio data to the relevant stakeholder.Monitor compliance with Credit Policy and Portfolio Guidelines / Underwriting Guidelines periodically and reviewing any divergence thereof with the Global Head of Funds Risk.Ensure EAR process is adhered to. Assist relationship managers in identification and managing up or out of accounts exhibiting signs of deterioration and assist Group Special Assets Management, where appropriate, in managing accounts to maximise recoveries and minimise losses.Initiate stress tests as required by internal and external factors and review results and assess their implications.Uphold the integrity of risk/return decisions, by challenging business to demonstrate that risk origination and control decisions are properly informed and consistent with strategyContinuously improve the operational efficiency and effectiveness of Credit Control and Reporting with regards to Funds.Ensure effective management of operational risks with respect to Funds Risk management functions and compliance with applicable internal policies, and external laws and regulations.Ensure appropriate judgement is applied in the discharge of risk authorities assigned to the jobholder.Maintain a good understanding of the requirements of key external stakeholders in respect of risk management and ensure these are well understood internally and reflected in internal proceduresEnsure first line process owners understand and accept their risk management responsibilitiesMaintain an open and cooperative relationship in dealings with regulatorsAttend the Risk Committee, Credit Issues Forum, and Underwriting Committee to provide input to the committees on arising risk issues and new policies and processes as required.Our Ideal Candidate
Substantial experience in the banking industry, including demonstrated success in a similar role.Sharp business acumen (including ability to assess risk and appropriate levels of return), strong leadership qualities, excellent interpersonal skills and multi-cultural awareness.Demonstrated track record in successful management and ability to manage risk in geographically dispersed and highly varied product base. Expertise in process design and control.Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the firm operates and the regulatory requirements Significant relationship management experience - with external stakeholder at the most senior levels, including regulators and rating agencies.About Standard Chartered
